Ramp Designs

'Outside Wall' ramp for Jane Goodall:

(sketch features a perspective view and side view)

The repetitive box-like structures which wrap around the ramp suggest protection and a cosy embrace. However it is undermined by the stakes which protrude violently through the structure, and the red light (reminiscent of blood) as one walks into the laboratory.

'Inside Wall' ramp for Florence Nightingale:

The ramp spreads out to both sides, generating a dominating presence which contradicates the small, contained tower (symbolic of how women's capability are restrained in a male world). Thus it reveals the true potential of females when constraints are broken. This captures a Feminists' struggle against degrading male definitions.
